2002 Convention Show Rules

1. This show will be governed by the latest revised rules of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. Inc. The filing of the entry blank indicates the acceptance of these rules and additional rules listed below.

2. Illinois Rabbit & Cavy Shows, nfp. and the A.R.B.A will not be responsible for any loss or injury in case of fire, accident or providential destruction. However, every precaution will be taken to prevent injury or loss in the showroom.

3. All exhibitors must be paid up A.R.B.A. Members. Your A.R.B.A. number must be listed on the entry blank for acceptance of your entry. You will be asked to show your A.R.B.A. card upon check in.

4. The A.RB.A. provides a Best of Breed and Best Opposite Sex award for each breed provided there are ten (1 0) or more animals exhibited in the breed by three (3) or more exhibitors. The A.R.B.A. awards will be mailed to the winners promptly after the convention.

5. Entries must be made on official convention entry blanks furnished with each catalog. Feel free to make copies of the entry blank.

6. Mail all entries to:

7. Open and Youth show entries shall be made on separate entry forms. Make your entries out carefully. To avoid error, they must be legible, either printed or typed, with all the requested information included. Should any questions arise from your entry forms, the exhibitor will be called collect or emailed to clear up any questions.

8. Make all checks payable to Illinois Rabbit & Cavy Shows, nfp. Entries must be postmarked no later than August 31, 2002. No entries postmarked after August 31, 2002 will be accepted, NO EXCEPTIONS. Entry confirmation sheets will be mailed to all exhibitors. If your confirmation is not received by Saturday, September 21, 2002, call or email Norma Hart @ 815- 634-2676 or normahart1@aol.com to advise. A limited entry system will be used when necessary. Refer to entry system information page for explanation of this system .

9. Unrecognized breeds or varieties with an official working standard will be limited to ten (10) entries per sponsor. A written standard must accompany breeds or varieties that are unrecognized at the time of entry, and have no official working standard. If cooping is available unrecognized breeds or varieties with no official working standard will be accepted, limited to four entries per exhibitor .

10. The entry fee will be $9.50 for all open and youth rabbit and cavy classes, and all unrecognized breeds and varieties on exhibit. All open and youth meat classes will also be $9.50. All open and youth fur classes will be $5.00 each entry. Once accepted, all entry fees are non-refundable.

*(Entry Fees for any animals that may be required cut from any exhibitor's entry will have the fees for those animals returned to them within their Convention packet upon checkout)!

11. All animals must be permanently and legibly earmarked in the left ear. Cavies must have either a permanent ear mark or an approved A.R.B.A. ear tag. Animals will be disqualified from competition if not properly marked.

12. No ear numbers or ear tag numbers are required at time of entry. Numbers will be required and completed at check in time. Have ear numbers ready.

13. To aid carriers and judges, all rabbits will have their coop numbers marked in their right ear at the time of check in. All cavies will have their coop number on an adhesive tape placed on their right ear at the time of check in.

14.All regular classes listed under the latest A.R.B.A. and Speciality Club rules will be scheduled.

15. The showroom will be open on Friday, October 4, 2002 from 5:00 P.M. to midnight. The showroom will open at 7.00 A.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2002 to accept entries until 10:00 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2002. All entries must be in place by 10:00 P.M. Sunday, October 6, 2002. Showroom will close at 11:00 P.M.

* (FRIDAY OCTOBER 4TH -  NO ANIMALS WILL BE ACCEPTED IN THE SHOWROOM  BEFORE 5:00 PM.

16. Open judging will begin at 8:00 A.M. on Monday, October 7, 2002. Youth judging will begin at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, October 7, 2002.

17. No person, other than Show officials, judges, and clerks will be allowed behind the judging tables during the judging.

18. Any animals that show signs of illness will be isolated from the showroom. This decision will be made by the show superintendent and an appointed committee.

19. No person, other than the Show officials or designated personnel, shall handle any exhibit, other than their own, without the owner's permission and presence.

20. Illinois Rabbit & Cavy Shows, nfp believes that all specials are offered in good faith. However, they accept no responsibility for payment or delivery of same, other than those offered by the Illinois Rabbit and Cavy Shows, nfp.

21. Those Specialty Clubs' premiums received in time for publication have been published in this catalog.  A list of winners will be furnished to each Specialty Club and the clubs will be responsible for their own payback and specials. Any additional special or specials list received after publication will be posted in the showroom in their respective breed booth.

22. Illinois Rabbit & Cavy Shows, nfp reserves the right to substitute, remove, or add judges as they feel necessary.

23. The opening ceremonies will be conducted Sunday, October 6, 2002 at 8.00 A.M. in the main area of the showroom.

24. There will be no one allowed in the showroom after closing. All feeding and watering must be done during show hours.

25. The showroom is officially open to the public with no admission charge.

26. No stock shall be removed from the showroom earlier than 7:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2002. Please make plans accordingly. There will be no exceptions

27. Check out will start at 7.00 AM at the same place as check in. You will pick up your packets containing your paperwork, remark cards, ribbons, legs, and copy of your entry. You will be given further instructions for removing your animals from their cages and leaving the building. Be prepared to show sales slips to the committee in charge.

28. No clubs, organizations, or individual will be permitted to solicit subscriptions, sell raffle tickets or items, or display information in or around the showroom unless they have purchased booth space from Illinois Rabbit & Cavy Shows, nfp.

29. All animals must be out of the showroom by 4:00 P.M., Thursday, October 10, 2002. Any animals remaining after this time become property of Illinois Rabbit & Cavy Shows, nfp.

30. No breeding of rabbits or cavies will be permitted without both owners present and the presence of either the breed chairperson or secretary.

31. All sale rabbits and cavies must be entered in the show. Anyone found selling rabbits or cavies on the Convention Center property, that are not entered in the Convention, will be asked to remove their exhibits, forfeit any awards, and leave the showroom. Rabbits and cavies not entered in the show will not be allowed.

32. No animals other than rabbits, cavies, or certified companion dogs will be permitted in the showroom.

33. Exhibitors who sell an animal must fill in a sales release form. The original goes to the purchaser, the second copy is kept by the seller. These forms will be furnished to each exhibitor upon check in.

34. Official registrars will be available to register your rabbits and cavies during scheduled hours. The hours will be posted in the Illinois Rabbit & Cavy Shows, nfp booth. Be sure to have your A.R.B.A. membership card, the animal’s 3 generation pedigree, and $4.00 registration fee available

35. Any emergency or problem not covered by these rules will be referred to the convention committee, and their decision will be final.

36. Wood shavings will be furnished by the convention sponsor as bedding material in all coops, with exception to the wool breeds. NO STRAW OR GRASSY SUBSTANCE WILL BE PERMITTED AS BEDDING. The wool breeds may use paper for bedding if desired. ALL COOPS SHOULD BE CLEANED REGULARLY IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN A SANITARY CONDITION WITHIN THE SHOWROOM. ANY EXHIBITOR NOT PROPERLY CARING FOR THEIR ANIMALS WILL BE ASKED TO REMOVE SAME FROM THE SHOWROOM, AND ALL ENTRY FEES FORFEITED.
